iscellany is entirely the product of student endeavour. Everything from content and photography to design and editing arises out of the blood, sweat and tears of our dedicated staff, all Trinity undergraduates.
The end result is a magazine of high quality. We achieve this due to hard work and strong editorial values. We’re amateurs only in the same sense as, say, Henry Shefflin.
If this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, you can do so in a whole range of capacities. If you’d like to write but are unsure what to cover, drop us a line and we’ll suggest some ideas or give you an assignment to pursue. The four issues of Volume 117 will be published on September 21st 2009, November 9th 2009, January 18th 2010 and March 1st 2010. Submissions should be received two weeks in advance of publication to ensure their consideration.
Beyond mere scribbling, we have openings for various staff positions. Miscellany has to pay for itself, so advertising is vital. If you feel like using that silver tongue to earn yourself a little extra cash, we pay commission on all ads rustled up by our team of crack salespeople. Joining them gives your CV an extra gloss that will serve you well through college and beyond.
For those taking a more serious interest in media as a possible career, getting involved in the editorial side of things is a good way to start down that road. We operate out of a well-equipped Publications Office using industry standard software. Generally staff are taken on at the beginning of the academic year, but we’re a small publication, so the more the merrier. Send us an email and we’ll give you a tour of the office and show you how we go about putting together a magazine from scratch.
